Your first Session

First we'll have a 15min conversation via phone or whatsapp in order to:

Discuss your requirements and goalsTalk about sleeping patterns, lifestyle, symptoms, medication, and any treatments involving other healthcare providersAnswer any questions you might have regarding how the hypnotherapy process worksDiscuss practical details such as cost, number of sessions and cancellation policy
Once we are both happy, we can book your hypnotherapy session

What to expect at your first session

When you get to the rooms we will get to know each other, and I will answer any additional questions you might have, in order to feel comfortable.

We will then head over to the session area where we will start with the session.

This will involve leading you into a state of deep physical and mental relaxation.

Once deeply relaxed, we will start using your personalized treatment using techniques and approaches discussed and agreed upon, to move you towards your goals.

I will then begin the transition to a full wakeful state again, slowly and comfortably bringing you out of hypnosis.

Afterwards we will have a casual discussion on what the experience was like for you, answer any questions you might have, and discuss how we will proceed from there.

Frequently asked questions

What is hypnosis?

First things first - no one can make you do anything you DON’T want to. Hypnosis is not what you see in the movies, it’s not mind control. At no point during a session will you lose control over your self or mind.

So what is hypnosis then? Consider this, have you ever been so absorbed in an activity that everything around you just ...disappears? That you lose track of time? That you forget all your worries and concerns for that hour or so? That, essentially, is the state of hypnosis.

It’s the same feeling you get when you watch TV, read a good book or get lost in a good song. It’s such an ordinary and familiar state of mind that some people may even question if they’ve actually, really been hypnotized.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness where carefully constructed suggestions can help the clients subconscious to change habits, thoughts and perceptions in order to reach their goals.

Hypnosis results in:
A deep state of relaxation.Hyper focused concentration.Increased suggestibility.
It bridges the gap between the conscious and subconscious minds, allowing us to purposefully direct the happenings, opinions and themes of your inner world, through carefully crafted suggestions and ideas.

How does it feel to be hypnotized?

Every person’s experience (and every session!) differs. For some it’s similar to feeling deeply relaxed, for others it’s a relaxed but alert state of calm. Or perhaps a feeling of zoning out, on the verge of dozing off in a light nap.

While being induced, you can still hear everything, the voice of the hypnotist, the sounds from outside, traffic in the street and birds in the trees.

You’re completely aware of everything happening around you, but you aren't focused on anything other than being relaxed and listening to the hypnotists instructions.

Some things you might experience

A calming of the mindJaw and facial muscles relaxingDryness in your mouthHeavy eyelidsFeeling like you’re floatingA feeling of letting go, as if you’re falling asleepA sense of lightness.
Afterwards you’ll feel refreshed and revitalized.

Is hypnosis “Mind Control”?

No, not at all. No one can make you do anything you DON’T want to. At no point during a session will you lose control over your mind, thoughts or opinions.

Whatever moral and ethical codes you hold in a normal waking state will still be in place under hypnosis. You don’t become someone you’re not, when you watch a movie, do you?

Just like you cannot be made to do anything against your morals, you won’t be made or forced to say anything you don’t want to, or act in an out-of-control way that is embarrassing or compromising in any way.

If the hypnotherapist`s suggestions conflicts with your morals or goals, you will simply ignore what they have said, just the same as if you had been fully awake.

Hypnotherapy is a gentle and considerate process and hypnotherapists are trained to not judge.

How much will I remember in Hypnosis?

It totally depends on the person. Some remember every word, others only bits and pieces. Some remember little to nothing, although this is exceptionally rare.

Treatment will still be effective though, regardless of how much you consciously remember, because the subconscious is always aware, and always listening. And it’s your subconscious mind that works the magic.

How do I know if I can be hypnotized?

Everyone can be hypnotized if they are willing.

If a person "can't be hypnotised” or “struggles" to fully go into a state of hypnosis it's because:
a) they don’t really want to be hypnotized
b) they struggle to relax and let go, perhaps because they fear they will lose control.

But as explained above, you are always in control.

Can I “get stuck” in a Hypnotic Trance?

No, you’ll simply wake up by yourself as easily as waking up from a nap.

If there's an emergency when you’re in a session, or if you no longer want to participate you can just open your eyes and be on your way.

Will hypnotherapy interfere with my religious, cultural beliefs, etc?

No, you will be in full control of your own mind, beliefs and opinions.

There will be no interference with your own personal spiritual or cultural beliefs, ideas or opinions.

Can hypnosis hurt me?

No, hypnosis is completely natural and safe.

What if I’m under a doctor’s care or taking medication?

Please ask you GP before your session if you have any concerns about how hypnosis might affect any other treatment you might be undergoing.

But it should be mostly OK. Hypnosis is often used as a complementary treatment to traditional medical care, and more informed doctors often favor it.

** Please also take into consideration, should you be on any antidepressant medication, you will get the most benefit out of your session, once you have been on your medication for at least 6 weeks and without any side effects.

If you like using any mind altering "drugs" please let me know and if possible refrain from using any substances at least 7days prior to your session. Reason being, it might affect the effectiveness of the session.

How quickly will I experience results from hypnosis?

This is impossible to answer. There might be a lot of factors at work.

First, and foremost, there’s your motivation level and commitment to reaching your desired outcome. For instance, if you were told to quit smoking because someone close to you insist on it, you most likely don't really want to quit yourself.

Many of the treatments or even multiple sessions will most likely not be effective. Why? Because if you don’t really want to do something, hypnosis can’t change your mind.

Same goes for just about anything you might want to get treatment for. If you are truly motivated and fully committed, you’ll likely experience results within a week or so, perhaps sooner. If your motivation or commitment is low, you may stop treatment before seeing any results.

It’s all up to you.

You will have to commit to doing the work needed to succeed, like diligently and regularly attending your sessions and listening to your recordings.

If you’re expecting to be quickly “put under” and then awaken never wanting to eat that chocolate again, you’re probably in for some disappointment. 😜
